Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson named Daytona 500 grand marshal
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will serve as the grand marshal for the Daytona 500, giving the command to start engines for the field of 40 racers. This isn’t the first time he has been involved in NASCAR, as he also served as the grand marshal for a race at Texas Motor Speedway in 2004. Pitbull, the Grammy-award winner and Trackhouse Racing co-owner, will perform the pre-race concert for the Daytona 500. The race marks the official start of the 2024 NASCAR Cup season, with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. returning as the defending winner. Before the Daytona 500, there will be the L.A. Clash exhibition race at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, where 36 Cup Series drivers and teams will compete. In 2023, several legends of the sport, including Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, and Joey Logano, gave the command to start engines for the Daytona 500 as part of NASCAR’s 75th anniversary celebration.
